  • Day 2 - Jacobite Steam Train and return home Enjoy the return journey onboard the Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William to Mallaig before travelling home by coach.

The Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William to Mallaig

The Jacobite Steam Train is one of Scotland’s most famous rail experiences, travelling through dramatic Highland scenery between Fort William and Mallaig. The route is loved for its mountain views, lochs, coastal stretches and the famous crossing of the Glenfinnan Viaduct.

For many guests, this is the highlight of the break. It has a nostalgic steam railway feel, but the scenery is the real star - from the Fort William area through to the west coast and Mallaig.

The train is operated separately from Loch Lomond Travel. Final rail arrangements and timings are confirmed according to the operator’s arrangements for the season.

Muthu Ben Doran Hotel, Tyndrum

The Muthu Ben Doran Hotel sits in Tyndrum, surrounded by Highland scenery and gardens. It provides a comfortable overnight base for this short break, with dinner and breakfast included as part of your tour package.

Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, with en-suite facilities, tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer and a flat-screen television. The hotel also has lounge and bar areas where guests can relax during their stay.

Oban adds a lovely west coast stop to the outward journey. This harbour town is known for its sea views, coastal atmosphere, shops, cafés and seafood, making it a popular place to stretch your legs and enjoy some time by the water before continuing to Tyndrum.

You can secure your space with a £35 deposit per person and pay the remaining balance up to 6 weeks before departure.

Can you support wheelchairs, rollators or mobility scooters?
We can take one mobility scooter per coach in the hold, and we can store multiple wheelchairs or rollators. Wheelchairs cannot be used onboard - passengers must be able to walk up the steps to board.

Payment protection: customer money is paid into an independent Trust Account, stays there until the trip has returned, then Loch Lomond Travel can access funds.
