🛳️ At Sea Onboard Ambition
Life onboard Ambition is all about comfort and enjoyment. While at sea, you can relax in the spa, treat yourself to a massage, or unwind in one of the two swimming pools. There are quiet corners too - like the library, card room or craft studio - perfect for taking it easy between ports. The ship also features a selection of shops, lounges, and lovely spaces to enjoy the view.
All meals are included during your cruise, with breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner served daily. You can choose from the elegant main restaurants, a casual bistro-style café, or indulge in something special at one of the ship’s speciality dining spots. In the evening, take in a show at the theatre or enjoy a relaxed drink in one of the bars as the ship sails on.
Day 3 - At sea, scenic cruising of Lysefjord
Lysefjord has to be seen to be believed. Its stunning, constantly changing scenery almost defies description, but it would be remiss not to comment on its awe-inspiring cliffs, with the plateau of Pulpit Rock towering 2,000 feet above the fjord.
Day 4 - Haugesund
Haugesund is a really enjoyable port for a free day because it’s easy to get around and it’s packed with coastal character. If you want something classic and “only here”, the Viking connection is the big pull - many visitors head for nearby highlights linked to Norway’s early kings, including the famous Haraldshaugen monument, then spend the rest of the time strolling the waterfront and dipping into cafés around the harbour.
If you’re in the mood for scenery, this area is made for it. A popular choice is heading out towards Åkrafjorden and the Langfoss waterfall for big fjord views and a proper nature hit, or keeping it simple with a short boat trip over to the tiny car-free island of Røvær for a slower, more peaceful feel.
Day 5 - Eidfjord
Sailing into Eidfjord is a highlight in itself - the journey takes you through some of Norway’s most stunning fjord landscapes, with towering cliffs, cascading waterfalls and peaceful blue waters all around. It’s the kind of scenery you’ll want your camera ready for from the moment the ship begins its approach.
Once docked, you’ll have time to explore the charming village of Eidfjord, set against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and natural beauty. It’s a peaceful spot with lovely walking paths, local cafés, and views in every direction. Whether you choose to take it slow by the waterfront or explore a little further into the valley, Eidfjord offers a perfect taste of Norway’s famous fjord country.
Day 7 - Flåm, Cruise Sognefjord and Aurlandsfjord
Flåm is one of those ports that feels made for cruising - a tiny village sitting right at the end of the Aurlandsfjord, surrounded by steep mountains and still water. It’s perfect for an easy wander along the waterfront, a stop in a café, and time to simply take in the scenery as the ship cruises through the Sognefjord and Aurlandsfjord.
If you want a proper highlight for the day, the Flåm Railway is the big one - a famous scenic train journey up through the valley, with dramatic views that are honestly hard to beat. Another favourite is the Stegastein viewpoint above the fjord, which gives you that “how is this real?” panoramic look back over Aurland and the water below.
Day 9 - Sandnes, Cruise Boknafjord
Sandnes is a lovely, low-fuss port day - a friendly town by the water where you can enjoy an easy wander, a coffee stop, and that calm Norwegian coastal feel. If you fancy stretching your legs, Dalsnuten is a popular short hike with a cracking viewpoint over Sandnes and the surrounding landscape - it’s one of those “big reward for not too much effort” options.
As well as time ashore, the scenic cruising through Boknafjord adds to the day, with wide-open water, islands, and that sense of gliding through Norway rather than just travelling between ports. It’s a great day to spend a bit of time on deck, spot the coastline as it changes, and enjoy the fresh sea air between whatever you choose to do in town.
