Muthu Ben Doran Hotel, Tyndrum

Among Alpine forests on the northern edge of Loch Lomond National Park, in Tyndrum, Muthu Ben Doran Hotel is tucked away in its own private seven-acre garden. It boasts a stunning mountain vista. The dining room and lounges are located on the top floor of the hotel, which was created artistically to give guests a wonderful perspective of the surrounding natural beauty.

Many lily ponds and wide lawns in the hotel serve as a haven for wildlife and the outstanding floral displays from early spring to late autumn. The Ben Doran is immersed in colour throughout the year, both inside and out, with its immaculately maintained and gleaming facade.

Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable all with en-suite facilities, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities and flat screen television

🚡 Nevis Range Mountain Gondola

The Nevis Range Mountain Gondola is one of the most memorable ways to take in the Highlands, lifting you smoothly up the slopes of Aonach Mòr for huge views across the Great Glen and towards Ben Nevis. As you rise, the scenery opens out into ridgelines, forests and distant lochs, and the photo opportunities only get better the higher you go.

At the top station, you can step out into crisp mountain air and enjoy the viewpoint paths that let you stretch your legs and soak up the panorama. There’s also a café up there, which is ideal for a warm drink while you take in the landscape before heading back down.

🌊 Oban

Oban is a classic harbour town with a real sense of arrival - boats in the bay, fresh sea air, and a waterfront that’s made for an easy stroll. The views across Oban Bay towards Kerrera, Lismore and Mull are a big part of the appeal, and the promenade and North Pier area are ideal for soaking it all in while you browse little shops or settle in for coffee.

For standout sights within easy reach, McCaig’s Tower is the one everyone wants a photo of - a striking circular monument above the town with panoramic views that make the climb worthwhile. If you enjoy a wee dram, Oban Distillery sits right in town, close to the harbour, and it’s one of Scotland’s smallest and oldest distilleries. Oban’s also known for its seafood, and the harbourfront is a great place to lean into that with something freshly made by the water.

🛍️ Loch Lomond Shores

Loch Lomond Shores is a great place to enjoy a relaxed stop by the loch, with a lovely mix of shopping, places to eat, and scenic views right on the water. It’s an easy spot to spend time at your own pace, whether you fancy a browse through the shops, picking up a few gifts, or simply enjoying the fresh air and the outlook across Loch Lomond.

With free time here, you can take a gentle stroll along the lochside, settle into a café for a coffee and something to eat, or just find a nice place to sit and take in the surroundings. It’s a comfortable, enjoyable visit that lets you slow down and appreciate the beauty of the area before continuing your journey.
